Everyone knows he is the one to fear when he is on the court. His explosiveness is like that of a bomb and his speed and quickness would put a cheetah to shame. He is number 0. He is Mr. Triple Double. He is Russell Westbrook, the best point guard in the NBA.

Russell Westbrook, point guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder, is a standout athlete in the NBA. He is a leader for his team and his performance alone determines how his team plays. Statistically, he is one of the best players in the league, but in reality, he is the best point guard that currently plays in the NBA.

Westbrook generally controls the offensive tempo for OKC. He is the primary ball handler, not just because of his position, but because of his vision and control. Great passing, and the ability to recognize defensive strategies are all within his skill set. Not only does he control the offense, but his teammates look up to him and believe he is the true leader of the team. Role players like Enes Kanter see him as the true leader of the team, even when the team had the All-Star player, Kevin Durant.

Russell Westbrook is one of those players that can put fear into the defenders’ heart. His ball handling skills can put a defender on skates and his quick explosiveness can freeze time allowing him to weave through the defense and slam dunk with the ferocity of ten lions. He can also shoot the ball fairly well. Other point guards in the league specialize in shooting, passing, or ball handling. Russell exemplifies exceptional talent in all of these categories. . His defensive performances set him apart from other PGs as well. Westbrook is a solid defensive player that gets blocks and steals. His ability to set up and shut the other point guard down is what makes him really great.

Russell’s stats also prove he is the best point guard. He is ranked second in points per game and also in rebounds per game. Westbrook leads the league’s point guards in assists per game. He also leads the league, through seven games, in double doubles (5) and triple doubles (2). No other qualified point guard can even dream of being on his level. It is clear to see in his stats that he puts in the work, plays at an elite level, and is the best point guard in the league. The proof is in his game; go watch and see for yourselves.
