The freshman girls basketball season started in November. At this writing, the team has an 8-4 record with losses to Rockford, West Catholic, Catholic Central and Cedar Springs.

Amy Golebiewski has been coaching for two years. She became a coach because of her love for basketball and a desire to be an inspiration. “Mentally focus yourself, eat, sleep and drink basketball,” is what Coach says is best when preparing for a game. Amy said some causes of the girls losses, “we didn’t box out, follow shots, yell defense or shoot the ball.”

Anna Fay believes another reason why they lost is lack of communication and sloppy plays between the girls.  However, she says the part of practice that best prepares the team for practice is scrimmaging because it gives the girls a chance to learn the plays and play against an actual defense.

The team practices Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5 – 6:30. Come support the Huskies at their next game in hopes of their next win of the season.
