Lydia Bouma
Lydia Bouma grew up in a family of six, made up of her two parents Doug and Trish, and her siblings which, oddly, Are two sets of twins. Lydias twin is Claudia, they are similar but very different at the same time. And her younger twin siblings, Max and Bella, are one year younger. She attended Meadowbrook elementary where she made a large group of friends that she still has today.

Ever since she was a child, she was an amazing gymnast and student. She started gymnastics at the age of eighteen months and excelled at it. she qualified to be in the top three at almost every competition. By the time she was five she could do multiple back handsprings. all throughout her life she continued with gymnastics, but felt like she had to do it because everyone expected to her to continue it and go to a D1 school and get a scholarship. After the age of thirteen Lydia became tired with gymnastics, she wanted to be with her friends because she spent almost all of her time at the gym and studying in her free time.

Her sophomore year of high school she applied to The Island School, which is a boarding school in the Bahamas that she stayed at for a semester. It is one of the most competitive schools to get into. teenagers from all around the world apply. The school requires mental and physical strength. She would have to wake up, run or swim four miles in the ocean. While on the island she had to complete a solo, which is where she was dropped on a deserted island with nothing but water and an orange.

While at the Island School she realized that her true passion is marine biology. She and her professors would tag and study shark populations, and she had the time of her life. Next summer she is going back to do a medical internship.
